Hip Replacements
Mr. Peter Robinson:
To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland how many people are awaiting hip replacement surgery in each of the health boards in Northern Ireland. [19558]
Mr. Woodward:
Information on the number of patients awaiting hip replacement surgery is not collected centrally, however figures in the table show the number of people awaiting either hip or knee replacement surgery in each Health Board in Northern Ireland at 31 August 2005.

Hospital Beds

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland how many hospital beds there are within each health trust in Northern Ireland. [18033]
Mr. Woodward:
Provisional figures for the average number of available hospital beds for each health trust in 200405 are given in the following table. Average available beds are defined as the average number of beds available during the quarter in wards that are open overnight, measured at midnight. Hospitals may also have a number of beds in wards, which are only open during the day. Beds reserved for day case admission or regular day admission are not included.

Hospital Staff (Assaults)
Mr. Peter Robinson:
To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland how many assaults there were on hospital staff on hospital premises in each health board in each of the last three years. [19570]
Mr. Woodward:
There have been a total of 5,444 assaults, 3,065 Eastern Board, 650 Southern Board, 894 Northern Board and 835 Western Board, recorded against all HPSS staff during the period 1 April 2004 to 31 March 2005. This is the earliest date for which these figures are held. Detailed information on the location where the incident took place is not recorded centrally and can be obtained only at disproportionate cost.
