Section 64 Funding

Mr. Vara: To ask the Secretary of State for Health pursuant to the answer to the hon. Member for Hornsey and Wood Green (Lynne Featherstone) of 13 March 2006, Official Report, column 2028W, on section 64 funding, when she expects the review to start; and how long she expects it to last. [63597]

Mr. Byrne: A review of departmental funding to the third sector will take place during 2006–07 but detailed plans are not yet in place. An announcement will be made when arrangements have been finalised. This will include information on consultation and how the third sector can get involved.

Social Exclusion

Mr. Pickles: To ask the Secretary of State for Health what funding streams her Department plans to finance in 2006–07 to tackle social exclusion. [56086]

Mr. Byrne: Social exclusion is a multi-faceted problem. Many of the Department's funding streams will help to tackle the causes and consequences of social exclusion. For example, the weighted capitation formula, used to inform the 2006–08 revenue allocations to primary care trusts, takes account of need and some element of unmet need, and so targets funding towards disadvantaged areas across the country.

Suppliers (Bill Payments)

Miss Kirkbride: To ask the Secretary of State for Health if she will list the average time each trust hospital took to pay bills to outside suppliers in 2004–05. [62067]

Mr. Byrne: The Department does not currently collect specific information on the period of time national health service trusts take to pay suppliers.

However, NHS trusts are required to comply with the Confederation of British Industry's better payment practice code and have been given a target of paying 95 per cent. of undisputed invoices within contract terms or 30 days where no terms have been agreed.

In 2004–05, NHS trusts paid 83 per cent. of their bills within 30 days or contracted terms.

Tariffs

Mr. Kevan Jones: To ask the Secretary of State for Health if she will make a statement on direct access tariffs in the NHS. [65108]

Mr. Byrne: Direct access services are currently outside the scope of payment by results. Funding for services outside the scope of payment by results continues to be negotiated locally.

Temporary/Agency Staff

Kelvin Hopkins: To ask the Secretary of State for Health what estimate she has made of the cost of employing temporary and agency staff in her Department in 2005–06. [36920]

Mr. Byrne: The Department does not collect information that would provide an analysis of temporary staff. To date in 2005–06, the total cost of agency staff employed directly on departmental administration work, where in-house resources were not available, is £6.489 million.

Wider Partnerships Initiative

Mr. Stephen O'Brien: To ask the Secretary of State for Health how much revenue (a) her Department and its arm's length bodies and (b) the NHS have generated through the wider partnerships initiative. [57518]

Mr. Byrne: The information requested is not held centrally and can be obtained only at disproportionate cost.

Worcestershire Royal Hospital

Sir Michael Spicer: To ask the Secretary of State for Health pursuant to the answer of 2 February 2006, Official Report, c. 726W, on Worcestershire Royal Hospital, when the West Midlands South Strategic Health Authority will write to the hon. Member for west Worcestershire as indicated in the reply. [64896]

Ms. Rosie Winterton: West Midlands South Strategic Health Authority wrote to the hon. Member on 19 April 2006.

York Hospital

Hugh Bayley: To ask the Secretary of State for Health how many patients were on the waiting list for elective admissions to York Hospital in March in each year since 1997. [64321]
