Mr. Spring: To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many people have been convicted of carrying a knife in a public place in Suffolk in each of the last five years. [82108]

Mr. Coaker: Data for the number of people convicted for offences relating to carrying a knife in a public place in Suffolk police force area, from 2000 to 2004, can be found in the following table. Court proceedings data for 2005 will be available in autumn of 2006.

Mr. Coaker [holding answer 25 May 2006]: Data from the court proceedings database held by the Office for Criminal Justice Reform showing the number of under 18-year-olds found guilty for selected offences related to the illegal possession and carrying of knives and other weapons in England and Wales from 1990-2004, are provided in the following tables.

Data for 2005 will be available in the autumn.
