3Message from the Lords,—A Message was brought from the Lords, as follows:

Conventions (Joint Committee),—The Lords communicate that they have appointed a Committee of eleven Lords to join with the Committee appointed by the Commons as the Joint Committee on Conventions;

They have ordered that the Committee have power to agree with the Committee appointed by the Commons in the appointment of a Chairman;

That the Committee have leave to report from time to time;

That the Committee have power to appoint specialist advisers;

That the Committee have power to adjourn from place to place within the United Kingdom;

That the Committee do report by 21st July 2006;

And they propose that the Committee do meet with the Committee appointed by the Commons tomorrow at Ten o’clock.

4Conventions (Joint Committee),—Ordered, That the Lords Message [this day] relating to the Joint Committee on Conventions be now considered.

That the Committee takes note of European Union Document No. 14775/05 Commission Communication: The Commission’s contribution to the period of reflection and beyond: Plan D for Democracy, Dialogue and Debate; and endorses the Government’s support for the principles behind Plan D and the view that implementation to raise awareness of the EU in the UK should be in co-operation with partners at European, national, regional and local levels.
