First Special Report
1. On 14 February 2006, we took evidence from Brian
Harvey, Acting Chief Executive of the Legal Services Commission,
about the Commission's plans to withdraw funding for Specialist
Support Services. We criticised this decision in our Fourth Report
Legal Services Commission: removal of Specialist Support Services
(HC 919, Session 20005-06), published on 14 March 2006.
2. We have since received a letter and accompanying
press statement, appended below, which explain that the Legal
Services Commission has decided to review its decision and withdraw
its proposed plan.
3. We are pleased that the Legal Services Commission
has made this decision.
