Thank you for your email inviting Yahoo! to
submit written evidence to the committee's inquiry on East Asia.
I understand from our phone conversation that the Committee wishes
us to comment in particular on the issues raised in recent months
regarding freedom of the media in China.
As you are aware, we had the opportunity to
outline our perspectives on these issues at the recent US Congress
hearings. Our testimony addressed the many challenges Yahoo! and
other companies face in China and responds to many of the questions
raised by the media and public stakeholders. I enclose a copy
of our prepared testimony and a further public statement we have
made on this matter for Members' attention.
We would be happy for the Committee to publish
this material as evidence in its inquiry.
