Select Committee on Foreign Affairs Written Evidence

Written evidence submitted by Dr Li Shao

I am writing to submit evidence in relation to appalling and widespread practice of organ harvesting from prisoners in China, for consideration in the context of your current enquiry into East Asia.

Enclosed is an executive summary together with a copy of reports in the international media. [122]

The Chairman of the British Transplantation Society Ethics Committee, Dr. Stephen Wigmore, recently called for an investigation by the United Nations and the World Health Organization on this issue. We would like to add our voices to his and ask for your support in bringing this appalling practice to an end.

Dr Li Shao

Vice Chairman
