Select Committee on Home Affairs Minutes of Evidence

Memorandum submitted by the Home Office

HOME OFFICE DEPARTMENTAL REPORT 2004-05

I am grateful for the Committee's interest in and follow up queries on the above, as expressed on its behalf by Dr Robin James' letter of 29 July.

Please find attached a response on the supplementary material requested and to the written questions set by the Committee relating to the Home Office 2004-05 Departmental Report. I am, however, particularly sorry that we are at this stage unable to provide a copy of the joint financial review, as decisions on publication have yet to be reached, pending completion of the review programme across Government. However, I am able to enclose a short summary of the key points presented to the Executive Board earlier in the year. I hope to be able to provide fuller material in due course. We are taking forward the main recommendations as part of our wider Departmental change and modernisation programme.

Sir John Gieve

Permanent Secretary

13 October 2005
