Amendment proposed, to delete paragraph 11, and insert the following new paragraph, "The committee is aware that education is a formerly devolved responsibility and that the government has expressed its desire to restore devolution during 2006. It would be our hope that the scope of education changes should be determined by the restored Assembly. We encourage the government to delay the presentation of the Education Order to Parliament while devolution discussions are ongoing and to put in place interim arrangements for transfer to post primary education if that is deemed necessary. In the meantime in preparation for the decisions which will be required under the Education Order we encourage all interested parties to take the opportunity to have their say in the present consultation on the order."(Sammy Wilson.)
