Memorandum from Earley Town Council (RL
19)
Earley Town Council would like to make one observation
only. The Council is of the view that the removal of Town and
Parish Councils from the statutory list of consultees has been
a mistake. The Council finds it very difficult to make responses
concerning proposed licensing applications. Fortunately, our District
Council does provide information on applications received. However,
no further details is forthcoming, it has to be requested each
time from the District.
While appreciating the new process for licensing
does speed up the rate at which applications can be considered
and approved, it does, on the other hand, make it more difficult
for objections to be lodged and for local councils to obtain a
proper hearing of their points of view.
