APPENDIX C

UNDERPINNING OBJECTIVES FOR THE OFFICE OF THE ADVOCATE GENERAL FOR SCOTLAND

  1.  To provide an efficient and responsive legal service to client UK Departments for day-to-day business;

  2.  To continue to establish the Office as an effective and respected source of advice to UK Departments in relation to Scots law generally and devolution issues arising under the Scotland Act in particular;

  3.  To provide effective support to the Advocate General for Scotland, in particular to enable her to carry out effectively her statutory functions under the Scotland Act and her functions in relation to the Human Rights Act;

  4.  To provide the Advocate General for Scotland with relevant, high quality briefing and analysis in relation to her Parliamentary and Cabinet Committee business; and

  5.  To provide an efficient and responsive legal service to the Advocate General for Scotland in the preparation of draft Law Officers' advice.
