Amend
the Animals Act 1971 to limit strict liability for damage done

it enacted by the Queen’s most Excellent Majesty,
by and with the advice and |

|
consent of the Lords Spiritual
and Temporal, and Commons, in this present |
|
|
Parliament assembled,
and by the authority of the same, as follows:— |

Amendment
of the Animals Act 1971 |

(1) |
The Animals Act 1971 (c.
22) is amended as follows. |
|
|
(2) |
In section 2 (liability
for damage done by dangerous animals), for subsection |
|
|
|
|
“(b) |
the likelihood of the
damage or of its being severe was due to |
|

characteristics
of the animal which are abnormal to its species in |
|
|
the
particular circumstances.” |
|
|
|
|
(1) |
This Act may be cited as
the Animals Act (Amendment) Act 2007. |
|
|
(2) |
This Act does not extend
to Scotland or to Northern Ireland. |
