(1) Causes of death which were recorded as the underlying cause in at least 10 female deaths registered in the year in question. These causes accounted for 65 per cent. of all female deaths in Stroud local authority in 1991-2005.
(2) Based on the boundaries of Stroud local authority as of 2005 for all years.
(3) Cause of death was defined using the International Classification of Diseases, Ninth Revision (ICD-9) for the years 1991 to 2000, and Tenth Revision (ICD-10) for the years 2001 to 2005.
