New Deal Schemes

Mr. Frank Field: To ask the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions how many participants there were on the New Deal for Disabled People in each month since January 1998; how many participants had participated on at least one previous occasion; and how many gained employment as a result of their participation in the New Deal for Disabled People. [125801]

Mr. Jim Murphy [holding answer 6 March 2007]: The new deal for disabled people programme started in July 2001. Since then 21,000 people have participated on the programme on more than one occasion and 124,300 people have gained a job.

The number of participants on new deal for disabled people in each month since the start of the programme is in the table.
