Mr. Paice:
To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs how many people were employed in agriculture in each of the last 10 years, broken down by county. [135239]

Total agricultural and horticultural employees and total labour force and by county in England for 2002 to 2006 can be found in the following tables.
These are the figures which are most readily available.
(a) Employees are salaried managers, full, part-time and casual workers, (paid and unpaid).
(b) Since the annual June survey is now based on a sample estimates have been made for those not surveyed or not responding.
