= No exclusions. * = One or two exclusions or a rate based on one or two exclusions. Notes: 1. Includes maintained and non-maintained special schools. 2. The number of permanent exclusions expressed as a percentage of the number of pupils on the school roll (excluding dually registered pupils) as at January 2005. 3. As a result, a checking exercise was carried outbut this was at LEA level only. School level exclusion numbers or percentages shown here for 2000/01 are as reported In ASC. The reliability Indicator has been derived as follows: Where number of exclusions returned via ASC, aggregated to LEA level <30: If the confirmed number increased or decreased by more than five >>SIGNIFICANT change. If the confirmed number increased or decreased by five or less >>MARGINAL change. Confirmed number matches ASC number >>ok. Where number of exclusions returned via ASC. aggregated to LEA level>=30: If the confirmed number increased or decreased by more than 15 per cent. >>SIGNIFICANT change. If the confirmed number increased or decreased by 15 per cent. or less >>MARGINAL change. Confirmed number matches ASC number >>ok. 4. In 2003/04,2004/05 the numbers of permanent exclusions collected from schools via the Annual Schools Census (ASC) were known to have been under-reported and so have to be treated with some caution. As a result, a checking exercise was carried outbut this was at LEA level only. School level exclusion numbers or percentages shown here for 2000/01 are as reported in ASC. The reliability indicator has been derived as follows: For each school type within an LA: If the confirmed numbers increased or decreased by more than 10 >>HIGHLY SIGNIFICANT change. If the confirmed number increased or decreased by more than five >>SIGNIFICANT" change. If the confirmed number increased or decreased by five or less >>MARGINAL" change. Confirmed number matches ASC number .>>ok. 5. This quality check is based upon LA level returns and so can only provide a broad indication of the reliability of individual schools figures. |
