Gambling: Licensing

Mr. Hancock: To ask the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport if she will take steps to provide a two-month compliance extension to operators seeking a premises licence under the terms of the Gambling Act 2006; and if she will make a statement. [137027]

Mr. Caborn: It remains the Government’s intention to bring the Gambling Act 2005 fully into force on 1 September 2007.

Mr. Hancock: To ask the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport what recent research she has (a) initiated and (b) evaluated on the implications for (i) local authorities and (ii) operators of the non-implementation of the mandatory and default conditions under the Gambling Act 2006. [137028]

Mr. Caborn: No research of this nature has been initiated or evaluated by the Secretary of State.

Mr. Caborn: The Gambling Act 2005 (Mandatory and Default conditions) (England and Wales) Regulations 2007 were debated in the House of Commons on 26 March and the House of Lords on 3 May 2007. The regulations have now been made and come into force on 21 May 2007.

National Heritage Memorial Fund

Mr. Evans: To ask the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport how much national lottery-funded money has yet to be allocated by the National Heritage Memorial Fund; what that figure was in August 2006;

how much the fund (a) received from the lottery in 2006 and (b) expects to receive in 2007; and what the investment returns for the fund from lottery funding were in (i) August 2006 and (ii) the latest period for which figures are available. [137013]

Mr. Caborn: The following table shows the National Heritage Memorial Fund’s (NHMF’s) income from the National Lottery Distribution Fund (NLDF) for the financial years 2005-06 and 2006-07; for August 2006 alone, and estimated figures, based on the Department’s latest income projections, for 2007-08.
