6 Jun 2007 : Column 525Wcontinued
Tessa Jowell: The Metropolitan Police Service has advised that the information was sent to the Home Office on 15 December 2005.
The Metropolitan Police Service provided an initial estimate of £464 million. This included the costs of policing the Olympic Park but excluded the costs incurred by other police forces, those associated with VIP protection and costs of other agencies such as the Olympic Delivery Authority and the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games.
As I announced in my statement to the House of 15 March 2007, within the budget for the Games we have allocated a figure of £600 million for wider security. This does not include the Olympic Delivery Authoritys spending on security for the Olympic venues.
Policing costs are kept under continuous review by Her Majestys Inspectorate of Constabulary.
Peter Luff: To ask the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport whether her Department plans to conduct a public consultation on the decision announced on 15 March to allocate an additional £675 million of lottery funding to the London Olympics in 2012. [136594]
Tessa Jowell: I will be consulting the Lottery distributing bodies, the devolved administrations and other key stakeholders. I have already discussed the timing and approach with the distributors.
We intend to give the distributors the highest degree of certainty and the greatest possible time for planning.
Norman Baker: To ask the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport what assessment she has made of the effect of the diversion of lottery funds for the Olympics on other potential beneficiaries of lottery funds. [137656]
Tessa Jowell: The overall lottery contribution to the London 2012 Olympic games will be £2.175 billion. We appreciate that there will be a particular impact between 2009 and 2012 but there is currently projected to be over 4 billion in new lottery money available for non-Olympic good causes during that period.
There is no need for existing commitments made by distributors to be affected. My Department has agreed with the Big Lottery Fund that resources for the voluntary and community sector will be protected.
John McDonnell: To ask the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport pursuant to the statement of 15 March 2007, Official Report, columns 450-52, on the 2012 Olympics, when her Department plans to bring forward regulations to enact the decision to transfer an additional £675 million of lottery funding to pay for the London Olympics in 2012. [138403]
Tessa Jowell: I have undertaken to consult lottery distributors, the devolved administrations and other key stakeholders about the proposed transfers. This will be launched soon and will run for three months. We will bring forward secondary legislation after the consultation is completed.
Andrew Stunell: To ask the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government what recent discussions she has had with the Chancellor of the Exchequer on the future functions of her Department; and if she will make a statement. [139169]
Angela E. Smith: The Secretary of State has regular discussions with her Cabinet colleagues.
Daniel Kawczynski:
To ask the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government if she will list her
diary engagements from 1 October 2006 to 28 February 2007. [138126]
Ruth Kelly: The Secretary of State had the following meetings with external organisations and stakeholders between 1 October 2006 and 28 February 2007. This has been placed in the Library of the House and is also available on the CLG FOI Disclosure log (since January 2007).
Details of internal meetings are not placed into the public domain, as this would inhibit the frank exchange between Ministers and officials which is necessary to policy development.
