Memorandum submitted by Peter Badder (CJ&I 47)

Dear Members of the Committee

I am writing as being very concerned regarding the attempt to include a 'Gay Right Hatred Crime' in the above Bill.

Surely there is plenty of legislation covering incitement to hatred under any circumstances?  To include an amendment, as suggested, would be very one sided - favouring a particular group specially!

As a Government, you are 'champions of civil liberty' and I feel sure you would strongly oppose any inclusion of this kind.

As a Christian, I have been taught by the Lord Jesus to love my neighbours and to do good to those that hate me.  This proposed inclusion seems to be one more attempt to try to intimidate any one stating the truth as to homosexual practise being sin.

We should be thinking of our responsibility to protect the coming generation.  You would agree there is a great need to stop further moral decline.  King David said in Psalm 12 verse 8 (English Standard Version);

"On every side the wicked prowl, as vileness is exalted among the children of men."

I would urge you, therefore, to ensure that this amendment does not get included in the above mentioned Bill.
