Letter from the Chairman of the House
of Lords Information Committee to the Chairman of the House of
Commons Administration Committee
May I thank you on behalf of the House of Lords
Information Committee for sharing with us your papers relating
to the visitor and education facilities inquiry.
On Wednesday 21 February, we had the opportunity
to consider your very helpful paper on visitor facilities prepared
by the Second Clerk to your Committee. We were aware that at your
meeting on Tuesday 6 February your Committee had decided in favour
of a dedicated space for school visitors along the lines of option
(c) of paper CL44 (not printed). An extract of the minutes of
your meeting were before us. A number of us have also had the
benefit of having recently toured the Parliamentary Education
Service.
After discussion, we agreed that we should also support
your option (c). I enclose a copy of an extract of the minutes
of our meeting (not printed).
I understand that you will be considering a draft
report shortly. I hope that you will feel able to reflect our
Committee's support for an improved educational facility in the
text of your report.
