Select Committee on Culture, Media and Sport Minutes of Evidence

Letter from the Permanent Secretary to the Chairman—17 December 2007

At the Culture, Media and Sport Select Committee hearing on 24 October 2007 I promised to let the Committee know which of our non-departmental public bodies would be the subject of the next peer review.

A peer review of the UK Film Council was carried out during October. The review team, chaired by Clive Jones, has completed its report and presented its findings to the UKFC and the Department. Publication of the recommendations and plans for next steps should follow shortly.

There are no firm plans for further peer reviews at present. We are currently working with our sponsored bodies to develop a more strategic, risk-based relationship with them. Once that work is complete we will look at the case for continuing the programme of peer reviews.
