Thank you for your letter of 7 February concerning
the enquiry into the Government's proposal of the regulation of
the creation of animal/human chimera and hybrid embryos for research
purposes.
Our views on stem cell research have already
been given to you on previous occasions, including formal evidence
which was given to the House of Lords Select Committee on this
stage we have no objections to the creation of animal/human chimera
or hybrid embryos for research purposes.
We hope you will continue to consult, as the
implications become clearer.
