Amendment
to the Statistics and Registration Service Act 2007
|

(1)
|
The Statistics
and Registration Service Act 2007 (c. 18) is amended
as follows.
|
|
|
|
(2)
|
After section 47 insert—
|
|
|
|
“47A
|
Power
to provide for a duty of disclosure to the Board
|
|
|
|
(1)
|
The Minister for the Cabinet
Office shall make regulations placing a
|
|

|
duty
on local authorities to disclose certain information to the Board
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
(a)
|
the disclosure would otherwise
be prohibited by a rule of law or
|
|
|
|
an
Act passed before this Act, or
|
|
|
|
(b)
|
the authority would not otherwise
have power to make the
|
|

|
|
|
(2)
|
Regulations under subsection
(1) may only authorise disclosure to
|
|
|
|
enable
the Board to carry out one or more of its functions.
|
|
|
|
(3)
|
Information required to be
disclosed under regulations under
|
|
|
|
subsection
(1) shall include all information held by a local authority
|
|

relating
to the nationality of those resident within its boundaries.
|
|
|
|
(4)
|
For the purposes of this section
“local authority” shall have such
|
|
|
|
meaning
as may be prescribed in regulations made under subsection
|
|
|
|
|
|
|

|
In subsection (4) of section
65 (orders and regulations), after “47(11),” insert
|
|
