To

Make provision for the abolition of the television licence fee; and for

connected purposes. 

Be it enacted by the Queen’s most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and

consent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this present

Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—

Abolition of television licence fee

Part 4 (licensing of TV reception) of the Communications Act 2003 (c. 21) is

repealed.

2       

Short title, commencement and extent

(1)   

This Act may be cited as the Broadcasting (Abolition of Licence Fee) Act 2008.

(2)   

This Act comes shall come into force on a day determined by the Secretary of

State by order made by statutory instrument, or on 31 December 2012,

whichever is the earlier.

(3)   

This Act extends to England and Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
