Dr. Howells: We have not issued new passports because Mrs. Akhtar has started court proceedings in Pakistan under the protocol, seeking the return of the children to the United Kingdom. Under the terms of the protocol, we must await the outcome of the proceedings before issuing passports.

Letter of correction from Dr. Howells:
An error has been identified in the response given by myself to the hon. Member for Rochdale (Paul Rowen) on 13 December 2007, Official Report, column 573. The correct answer should have been:
Dr. Howells: We have not issued new passports because Mrs. Akhtar has started court proceedings in Pakistan under the protocol, seeking the return of the children to the United Kingdom. It is our policy to await the outcome of the proceedings before issuing passports.
Mrs. Gillan: To ask the Secretary of State for Justice what the reasons were for the dismissals of each of the (a) prison officers, (b) senior officers and (c) principal officers from each of the Welsh prisons in (i) 2005, (ii) 2006 and (iii) 2007. [166183]
[Official Report, 21 November 2007, Vol. 467, c. 975-76W.]
Letter from Mr. Hanson to Mrs. Gillan:
I am writing to apologise for the errors in the written answer I gave in response to your parliamentary question of 21 November 2007, Official Report, columns 975-76W,
asking about the reasons for dismissal of officers from Welsh prisons in 2005, 2006 and 2007. Your subsequent question of 27 November 2007 alerted me to the discrepancies between this answer and another previous question which also included information on dismissals of officers from Welsh prisons.
The correct answer should have been:
Mr. Hanson: Information on the reasons for dismissal of each of the officers dismissed from Welsh Prisons in 2005, 2006 and 2007 is shown in the list. Due to the different grading structure in public sector and contracted prisons it is not possible to break down the information by grade.
