UN Convention on the Rights of the Child
Fiona Mactaggart:
To ask the Secretary of State for Children, Schools and Families what recent discussions he has had with the Home Secretary on the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child; and if he will make a statement. [187162]
Beverley Hughes:
No recent discussions have taken place between the Secretary of State for Children, Schools and Families and the Home Office about the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. However, officials in both Departments continue to work closely together, building on the positive progress already made in implementing the convention and preparing for the UKs periodic oral examination by the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child, which is due to take place in Geneva this autumn.
Young People: Carers
Helen Jones:
To ask the Secretary of State for Children, Schools and Families what steps he is taking to ensure that (a) schools identify young carers amongst their students and (b) that they liaise with carers organisations and local authorities in order to meet the needs of those students. [187824]
