Letter of correction from Ruth Kelly:
An error has been identified in an answer given by the Secretary of State to the hon. Member for Chipping Barnet (Mrs. Villiers) in the course of the Department for Transport Oral Questions on 4 March 2008. The correct answer should have been:
Ruth Kelly: ...The M25 is quite a long way down the procurement process on sections 1 and 4.
10. Mr. Greg Hands (Hammersmith and Fulham) (Con): What his most recent assessment is of progress on the prison building programme. [192762]
[Official Report, 11 March 2008, Vol. 473, c. 139.]
Letter of correction from Jack Straw to Mr. Hands :
I am writing to apologise for an error in the oral answer I gave in response to your Parliamentary Question (192762) about progress of the prison building programme.
The 1,746 figure I gave during Justice Questions on Tuesday 11 March was an earlier calculation of the prison places already provided. However, a further 416 prison places came on stream on Monday 10 March giving a total of 2,162 prison places already provided.
Once again, I apologise for providing you with incorrect information.
I am arranging for copies of this letter and the correct answer to be placed in the Libraries of both Houses.
