Listed Buildings: Stroud
Mr. Drew:
To ask the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport if he will take steps to (a) list and (b) take other protective steps in relation to the Purton Hulks in Stroud constituency. [207318]
Margaret Hodge:
The Secretary of State may designate historic assets only if they meet the relevant statutory criteria. The Purton Hulks have been assessed for designation as a scheduled ancient monument by English Heritage, the Secretary of State's statutory advisers on the historic environment. I understand that English Heritage considers that the criteria for designation are not met in this case.
