Organs: Donors
Mr. Davey:
To ask the Secretary of State for Health what sources of data on organ donation his Department uses; and if he will make a statement. [209907]
Ann Keen:
The Department uses a wide range of data sources for organ donation related purposes. The primary source for statistical data is NHS Blood and Transplant, which publishes “Transplant Activity in the UK” on an annual basis, copies of the 2006-07 Report have been placed in the Library.

Other sources of data include the Information Centre for health and social care. The Council of Europe provides a Europe-wide overview in its annual Transplant Newsletter that includes international figures on organ donation and transplantation.
