Energy: Disconnections

Mr. Weir: To ask the Secretary of State for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform how many customers have been disconnected by energy providers over the last eight quarters, broken down by energy company. [212892]

Malcolm Wicks: The Office of Gas and Electricity Markets (Ofgem) collects and publishes data about gas and electricity disconnections. In the eight quarters to quarter 3 2007, the last period for which data have been published, the number of disconnections for debt by supplier was:

Olympic Games

Mr. Don Foster: To ask the Secretary of State for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform how many (a) Ministers and (b) officials from his Department

plan to attend the Beijing Olympic games; for what purpose in each case; and what estimate he has made of the cost. [212120]

Mr. Thomas: My noble Friend the Minister for Trade Promotion and Investment will be in Beijing from Thursday 21 August - Tuesday 26 August and will attend the closing ceremony only of the Olympic games.

The purpose of Lord Jones’ visit is to promote British business capability, foreign direct investment and partnership opportunities in general as well as business opportunities arising from the London 2012 games. During his visit Lord Jones will support several key business events and initiatives.
