The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs (Gillian Merron): In addition, there will be a discussion of human rights in specific countries as a standing item on the agenda of the Human Rights Council—an item that was not on the old commission’s agenda.

Letter of correction from Gillian Merron:
An error has been identified in the Oral Answer given during the debate on promoting democracy and human rights on 13 October 2008.
The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs (Gillian Merron): In addition, there will be a discussion of human rights in specific countries as a standing item on the agenda of the Human Rights Council—an item that was not on the old commission's agenda.
The correct answer should have been:
In addition, there will be a discussion of human rights in specific countries as a standing item on the agenda of the Human Rights Council.
