Dr. Gibson: To ask the Secretary of State for Innovation, Universities and Skills when he expects to announce the composition of the new Copyright Tribunal. [235465]
Mr. Lammy: The IPO has agreed a timetable with the Judicial Appointments Commission to recruit a Deputy Chairperson. The appointment will be announced in early April 2009. In addition the eight new lay members to be appointed to the tribunal will also be announced in April 2009.
Dr. Gibson: To ask the Secretary of State for Innovation, Universities and Skills when he expects to decide on the right of collecting societies to take cases to the Copyright Tribunal. [235466]
Mr. Lammy: The IPO is analysing a number of issues in relation to the jurisdiction of the Copyright Tribunal. I expect this work to have been completed, and to be in a position to bring forward proposals, in 2009.
