Letter from Rt Hon Michael Howard QC MP

  Thank you for your letter of 6 December which we briefly discussed.

  All five of the post offices which were proposed for closure in my constituency are indeed to be closed, despite the fact that representations against their closure were made not only by me, but in several cases by Postwatch too.

  I very much doubt, therefore, whether the consultation exercise can be characterised as truly meaningful.
