Addition to Changing Places Memorandum [PPT 17A]

As the Changing Places campaign is about creating a new type of disabled toilet we have not specifically come across the issue of toilets being closed due to disabled access though we would recognise that in the early 1900s there was a trend to have toilets underground, indeed in my experience in Nottingham the toilets in the Market Square were built under the Square itself and were identified as totally unsuitable for disabled people. However in this case Nottingham City Council closed them, and re-provided close by with modern fully accessible toilets which included a changing places toilet as well as a standard disabled toilet.
