Temporary Event Notices - TENs

I am concerned that only the police and the applicant and/or his representative are allowed to speak at a local authority Licensing Committee meeting to consider a Temporary Event Notice (TEN) application.

I believe this to undemocratic and would like you to consider allowing local councillors to be allowed to contribute to the debate (not sitting as committee members), who would then be able to represent the views of both the applicant and/or local residents.

This change would be in line with Development Control (planning applications) meeting protocol.

I am writing as a local councillor for the Preston Ward of Torbay Unitary Council.
