Select Committee on Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Written Evidence

Memorandum submitted by the Northern Federation of Sea Angling Societies (DMB 42)

The Northern Federation of Sea Angling Societies is appreciative of DEFRA's position on the establishment of a coastal path and access to the foreshore, however we would appreciate as expressed in the broad terms of item 3a in the bill, that full consultation with local authorities, stakeholders and users would be sought before any recommendation to remove or re-route any section of the coastal path by Natural England. Whereas we appreciate Natural England being the agent for the government with regards to the coastal path and foreshore access, we do expect that consultation must be sought before any recommendation could be proposed to DEFRA or any other government department.
