Email to the Clerk of the Committee from
the Clerk of the Joint Committee on Human Rights
JCHR was sent the email, below, last month,
and I have responded in the following terms:
Thank you for you email to the Joint Committee
on Human Rights of 23 September, concerning institutions in Bulgaria
for mentally ill and disabled children. The Joint Committee's
remit relates to human rights in the UK, so the Committee is unable
to take any action in relation to your allegations. International
human rights issues fall within the remit of the Foreign Affairs
Committee; the European Scrutiny Committee also has an interest
in relation to the implementation of relevant EU law in Bulgaria.
I have forwarded your email to the Clerks of those Committees.
