REPORT OF
THE FINE
DEFAULT WORKING
GROUP—UPDATE
The Fine Default Working Group (FDWG) submitted
its report to the Criminal Justice Board (CJB) in JUne. Following
this, the CJB has commissioned a pilot exercise for six months
to ascertain the effectiveness of a Fine Enforcement Officer pursuing
unpaid fines before the issue of warrants. The cost of the exercise
will be jointly funded by the NI Court Service, the Police Service
of Northern Ireland and the NI Prison Service. An evaluation of
the pilot and its outcomes will be reported to the CJB and decisions
taken on extension and sustainability.
