Supplementary memorandum from the Department
for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform
I promised during my appearance before the Committees
on 19 May that I would write to you about the alleged involvement
of a UK company in a shipment of arms to Zimbabwe. I indicated
that there might be limits to what I could say at this stage.
I can confirm that HMRC, as the enforcement
body for export controls, are fully aware of the issues, and I
will write to you with a fuller report as soon as I am able.
