First further supplementary evidence from

SORTING THE
BALLOT: IMPROVING
THE ELECTIONS
TO THE
SCOTTISH PARLIAMENT
I enclose a copy of the Scotland Office consultation
paper, embargoed until 13 December 2007, seeking views on a number
of recommendations in the Gould Report on the conduct of the elections
to the Scottish Parliament this year.
As you will be aware, we have already accepted
five of the Gould recommendations. The purpose of the consultation
is to seek views on the remaining recommendations that Government
is responsible for, with the view to improving the experience
of voters at future elections to the Scottish Parliament.
It is also my intention to meet with key stakeholders
during the course of the consultation to directly take views from
those with a strong interest in one or more aspects of the proposals.

Minister of State, Scotland Office
