To

require water companies to exempt from surface water and highway

drainage charges places of worship, non-profit making sports clubs, scout

groups and guide associations; and for connected purposes. 

Be it enacted by the Queen’s most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and

consent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this present

Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—

Amendment to Water Industry Act 1991

(1)   

Section 2 of the Water Industry Act 1991 (c. 56) is amended as follows.

(2)   

After subsection (3)(e) insert—

“(f)   

to ensure that companies exempt from surface water and highway

drainage charges places of worship, non-profit making sports clubs,

scout groups and guide associations.”

Short title and commencement

(1)   

This Act may be cited as the Surface Water and Highway Drainage Charges

(Exemption) Act 2009.

(2)   

This Act comes into force at the end of the period of 2 months beginning with

the day on which it is passed.
