Bill

To

apply the provisions of the Gangmasters Licensing Act 2004 to the

construction industry; and for connected purposes. 

Be it enacted by the Queen’s most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and

consent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this present

Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—

Application of the provisions of the Gangmasters Licensing Act 2004 to the

construction industry

(1)   

The Gangmasters (Licensing) Act 2004 (c. 11) is amended as follows.

(2)   

After section 3(1)(a) insert—

“(ab)   

construction work,”.

(3)   

After section 3(3) insert—

“(3A)   

In subsection (1)(ab) “construction work” means work in the

construction industry.

(3B)   

In this Act “the construction industry” means the activities of the

construction industry as defined by Schedule 1 to the Industrial

Training (Construction Board) Order 1964 (S. I. 1964/1079) read

together with the orders listed in the Schedule to the Industrial

Training Levy (Construction Industry Training Board) Order 2009 (S. I.

2009/549).

Short title and commencement

(1)   

This Act may be cited as the Gangmasters Licensing Act 2004 (Amendment)

Act 2009.

(2)   

This Act comes into force at the end of the period of 2 months beginning with

the day on which it is passed.
