A final assessment of progress against the Department's SR04 PSA3 target was published on 11 December 2008. Full details can be found at:

Mr. Don Foster: To ask the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport how many and what percentage of people aged 16 years and over (a) from black and ethnic minority groups, (b) with a limiting disability, (c) from lower socio-economic groups, (d) who were female and (e) from the total population, (i) did and (ii) did not visit at least one designated historic environment site in each of the last three years, broken down by region; and what assessment he has made of his Department's progress towards its Public Service Agreement targets in this area. [244960]

Barbara Follett [holding answer 18 December 2008]: The “Taking Part” survey is a continuous household survey providing national data on participation in culture, leisure and sport by adults aged 16 and over.

Tables 1 to 4, as follows, show the number and percentage of adults who attended at least one designated historic environment site during the past 12 months. The data relate to the four sub-groups of the population referred to in the question, by region, for each of the last three years. Data are also provided for the total population in Table 5. The percentage of adults who did not attend can be deduced from the data given.

Due to small sample sizes, differences between regions or years may not be statistically significant.

The survey's sample of black and minority ethnic people in the north east is too small to provide robust data.
