Ministerial Corrections

Tuesday 13 January 2009

Children, Schools and Families

GCSE: Disadvantaged

Michael Gove: To ask the Secretary of State for Children, Schools and Families what proportion of children obtained five GCSEs at grades A* to C including English and mathematics in schools (a) with fewer than 10 per cent., (b) with more than 20 per cent. and (c) with more than 50 per cent. free school meals pupils in the last three years. [240610]

[Official Report, 11 December 2008, Vol. 485, c. 277W.]

Letter of correction from Jim Knight:

An error has been identified in the written answer to the hon. Member for Surrey Heath (Michael Gove) on 11 December 2008. Unfortunately, there were errors in the figures provided for both years because of a common arithmetic error. The result was that the errors a) underestimated the performance of high FSM schools by a considerable amount (incorrectly 13 per cent. rather than 31 per cent.) and b) suggested a decline for the high FSM schools, which was really an increase (incorrectly from 14 per cent. to 13 per cent., rather than from 27 per cent. to 31 per cent.).

Environment, Food and Rural Affairs

Flood Control: Finance

Tim Farron: To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs how much his Department has spent on flood defences in each of the last five years. [233933]

[Official Report, 12 November 2008, Vol. 482, c. 1228W.]

Letter of correction from Huw Irranca-Davies:

An error has been identified in the table provided in the written answer given to the hon. Member for Westmorland and Lonsdale (Tim Farron) on 12 November 2008. The sums listed for the financial years 2007-08, 2006-07 and 2004-05 were incorrect. The correct answer should have been:

Jane Kennedy [holding answer 6 November 2008]: DEFRA provides funding to operating authorities for flood defences from the allocation of funding for Flood and Coastal Erosion Risk Management. Over the past five financial years this allocation totalled:
