John Healey: Details of how many chargeable dwellings in each council tax band there were in each region in each year from 1997 to 2008 are shown in the following
20 Apr 2009 : Column 420W
table. The data are a snapshot taken in the autumn of each year and are as reported to Communities and Local Government by all billing authorities in England on their annual council tax base (CTB) returns.

Numbers of chargeable dwellings in each council tax band for England, but only at an all England total level, are published by the Department in statistical releases, most recently on 26 November 2008, and in the annual publication ‘Local Government Financial Statistics’.
