Letter of correction from Stephen Timms:
An error has been identified in the written answer given to the right hon. Member for Horsham (Mr. Maude) on 28 January 2009. The correct answer should have been:
Mr. Timms: The current number of pre-surplus staff (23 January 2009) is 2,849. The number of pre-surplus staff on maternity leave is 15. The total number of staff pre-surplus for at least six months is 1,071 and there are 661 who have been pre-surplus for more than 12 months.
Norman Lamb: To ask the Secretary of State for Health how many children were drug dependent at birth in each region in each of the last five years; and what the numbers of such children in the case of each type of drug were. [271664]

Letter of correction from Dawn Primarolo:
An error has been identified in the second table provided in the written answer given to the hon. Member for North Norfolk (Norman Lamb) on 6 May 2009. I am sorry that two of the figures given as the totals for the years 2005-06 and 2004-05 were incorrect.
The correct table is as follows:
Counts of FCEs with a primary or secondary diagnosis of neonatal withdrawal symptoms from maternal use of drugs by SHA of residence for the period 2003-04 and 2005-06
Total finished consultant birth episodes
SHA of residence | 2005-06 | 2004-05 | 2003-04 |
Notes: 1. ICD-10 diagnosis codes used: P96.1 Neonatal withdrawal symptoms from maternal use of drugs of addiction. P96.2 Withdrawal symptoms form therapeutic use of drugs in newborn. 2. Low numbers: Due to reasons of confidentiality, figures between one and five have been suppressed and replaced with * (an asterisk). 3. Ungrossed data: Figures have not been adjusted for shortfalls in data (i.e. the data are ungrossed). Source: Hospital Episode Statistics, The Information Centre for health and social care |
