Bill read a second time.

3 Saving Gateway Accounts Bill (Programme)

Motion made and Question put forthwith (Standing Order No. 83A(7)), That the following provisions shall apply to the Saving Gateway Accounts Bill:

Committal

1. The Bill shall be committed to a Public Bill Committee.

Proceedings in Public Bill Committee

2. Proceedings in the Public Bill Committee shall (so far as not previously concluded) be brought to a conclusion on Tuesday 10 February 2009.

3. The Public Bill Committee shall have leave to sit twice on the first day on which it meets.

Consideration and Third Reading

4. Proceedings on consideration shall (so far as not previously concluded) be brought to a conclusion one hour before the moment of interruption on the day on which those proceedings are commenced.

5. Proceedings on Third Reading shall (so far as not previously concluded) be brought to a conclusion at the moment of interruption on that day.

6. Standing Order No. 83B (Programming committees) shall not apply to proceedings on consideration and Third Reading.

4 Saving Gateway Accounts Bill (Money)

Queen's Recommendation signified.

Motion made and Question put forthwith (Standing Order No. 52), That, for the purposes of any Act resulting from the Saving Gateway Accounts Bill, it is expedient to authorise the payment out of money provided by Parliament of any expenditure incurred by the Commissioners for Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs by virtue of the Act._(Ms Dawn Butler.)

5 Statement: Business Statement (Leader of the House)

6 Public Petition

A Public Petition from small shareholders and supporters of Northern Rock of the Wansbeck constituency in the North East of England relating to Northern Rock was presented and read by Mr Denis Murphy.
