2 Deputy Speaker in the Chair Sir Alan Haselhurst, the Chairman of Ways and Means, took the Chair as Deputy Speaker (Standing Order No. 3). 3 Motion to sit in private John Bercow moved, That the House sit in private. Question put forthwith (Standing Order No. 163). The House proceeded to a Division. The Deputy Speaker declared that the Noes had it because only one Member was willing to act as Teller for the Ayes. Motion, by leave, withdrawn. Ordered, That the Bill be withdrawn. 5 Holocaust (Stolen Art) Restitution Bill: Second Reading Bill read a second time and stood committed to a public bill committee (Standing Order No. 63). 6 British Museum Act 1963 (Amendment) Bill: Second Reading Motion made and Question proposed, That the British Museum Act 1963 (Amendment) Bill be now read a second time. At 2.30 pm the debate was adjourned (Standing Order No. 11(2)).
