Sir Alan Haselhurst, the Chairman of Ways and Means, took the Chair as Deputy Speaker (Standing Order No. 3).

3 Motion to sit in private

John Bercow moved, That the House sit in private.

Question put forthwith (Standing Order No. 163).

The House proceeded to a Division.

The Deputy Speaker declared that the Noes had it because only one Member was willing to act as Teller for the Ayes.
