I am gravely concerned that the wording of the Bill (above) does not make it COMPULSORY for Schools to offer information, advice and guidance to school pupils about Apprenticeships.

Clearly, as has been the case for many years, it is not in Schools' interests to advise their potential Sixth Form learners about the opportunities available on Apprenticeship programmes and it is quite clear in many cases, based on feedback from Learners, that this advice has NOT been forthcoming.

If it is still seen as an "option", ie: "when it is in the best interest of the pupils to do so", to offer advice and guidance on Apprenticeship Programmes, this advice may not be given.

I believe it should be a legally binding requirement for ALL young people to be given information, advice and guidance on Apprenticeships as one of the options open to them.

Schools should also be legally obliged to invite all Apprenticeship Providers to attend their schools to give Learners the correct information relating to Apprenticeships and other options of further Post 16 education.
