Memorandum submitted by Royal College of
Physicians (E 63)
The Royal
College of Physicians notes the publication of the above which was recently
discussed at our Equality & Diversity Committee. We would like to make the
following comments which came from that discussion:
· We are pleased that race, gender and disability
are now covered by one Bill.
· We believe that the Bill should include
responsibilities as well as rights for minorities.
· The right of minority groups should not impinge on
the rights of others nor pose risks to others.
· It is important to educate children in schools in
matters of equality and diversity.
· Members of minority groups should not positively
discriminate in favour of their own minority group.
I trust these comments will be of use.
